Apple's New Mac Book Pros Are Affordable, Maintain FireWire 800 and a Surprise SD Media!

Wow! Today’s announcements from Apple at their 2009 WWDC packed a few surprises. For me Apple dropping the ExpressCard slot in favor of FireWire 800 and an SD media slot was an important move. The lower price on their Mac Books is an important factor as well.

I’ve always been a fan of FireWire and even though the connection is FireWire 800 conversion cables are available to connect 6 and 4 pin connections to the computer. As for SD media, that makes really good sense as well.

  1. Okay … which adapter cables do I use to connect my Matrox MXO 2 to the new 15″ Macbook Toy? How about the MXO2 Mini? Granted I can use the AJA I/O HD on the FireWire port, but I’m going to have to dasie-chain it through my external raid drive box and it’s the least portable of this lot.
