Nab 2010 Report – Software

There was so much software at NAB that appears in other parts of my 2010 report that only two found it to this post. They are ADOBE’s CS5 and Wowza Media Server 2.

ADOBE CS5

It’s almost impossible to list all of the improvements in Adobe’s CS5. For Photoshop the Mixer Brush and Bristle Tips allow for lifelike, naturally textured painting. Photoshop users can add dimension imagery with 3D extrusions using Adobe Repoussé technology and users can make precise image selections more quickly and easily with new Truer Edge selection technology.

Premiere® Pro CS5 and After Effects® CS5 work directly with tapeless media formats to keep from wasting valuable production time transcoding or rewrapping. The package works up to ten times faster with very large images in Photoshop® CS5 Extended. Morre fluidly on HD projects in Adobe After Effects® CS5 and Adobe Premiere® Pro CS5 because of native 64-bit support. New GPU-acceleration quickens work in Photoshop, the new Adobe Mercury Playback Engine speeds up effects processing and rendering in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Rotoscope is acomplished in a fraction of the time with the new Roto Brush in Adobe After Effects CS5. It isolates moving foreground elements from their backgrounds with automatic transparency and is dramatically faster.

Below is the video from the Final Cut Pro Supermeet at NAB 2010. To watch the ADOBE session which really shows the capabilities of some of the items mentioned above please click here, select the ADOBE link on the video sidepanel and slide the start time to approx. 1:20. Oh yes and go full screen….

Vodpod videos no longer available.
